I hate these news items where you have to sit through the “commercial” first, but the photos in this KTVQ video are both beautiful and horrific. http://www.ktvq.com/videos/montage-of-photos-from-the-pine-creek-fire/ (http://www NULL.ktvq NULL.com/videos/montage-of-photos-from-the-pine-creek-fire/) According to the latest at inciweb.org the fire is still 0% contained. Still lots and lots of smoke from this fire and lots more [...]

Another Wildfire
A major, major wildfire started yesterday afternoon about 10 miles south of us at Pine Creek. With fires east and west of us the smoke is so thick we can’t see our mountains. We are fine and well watered, but have heard homes were lost in the Pine Creek blaze in Paradise Valley. We [...]
Can the grizzlies be far behind?
This article was in our local paper yesterday. With the drought, the bears are having to go travel further to find the food they need for hibernation. We normally do have bears in town, but not this early. It was several weeks ago we heard of a mother and two cubs following Fleishman Creek into [...]
Blessed
We are so blessed! I believe we owe it all to our parents who taught us how to pray.
Christmas in Yellowstone
We missed Christmas in Yellowstone yesterday. Grandma Dora remembers it so fondly from the summer she worked in the Park. Working and living closely together people become like family and years ago the tradition began so employees could celebrate the biggest holiday of the year with their Yellowstone family. Decorations, singing carols, gifts are all [...]
Our Herd
Our horse herd returned to the ridge this morning. It’s the first time we’ve seen them since spring when we saw one new foal. As you can tell in the one photo of only a portion of the herd, several of the horses are foals from earlier this year. We think it must be a [...]
Hot and Dry
We’re tired of our dry, smokey days and nights, but we know so many are having a much worse time.
Wildfire
The Highway 87 fire near Billings grew to about 2,000 acres overnight. Have heard it was unintentionally started by a rancher driving through the pasture. We had a cold front with some rain go through overnight so hopefully that will improve the dangerously dry conditions.
National Air Force Week
Al Roker reminded us this morning it is National Air Force Week. A great time to thank everyone in the armed services, or those who served in the past, for everything they do to protect the freedoms which we often times take for granted. They make many sacrifices two of which include being away from [...]
