“There’s no choir singing, no bells ringing. Still Christmas is at hand on this cold and snowy land in the mountains.” Dan Hartman This picture of Dan and Cindy’s Wildlife Along the Rockies was taken in the spring. They have a lot more snow now, but it is a great time to visit in person [...]

Wolves, Martens, and Bears – Oh My!
Wild wildlife photos make great Christmas gifts. The best ones are at http://wildlifealongtherockies.homestead.com/. This bear seems to have become a neighbor of our friends, Dan and Cindy Hartman, who own the wildlife gallery at http://wildlifealongtherockies.homestead.com/. There is nothing staged about their photos!! Completely natural.
Wolves
Remember when we said we wished you could go to Yellowstone with us! Well, look what we saw! There were 7 wolves in the pack we saw right at the Buffalo Ranch in Lamar Valley. The other wolves were stalking one of the herds of buffalo in the valley so we may have one less [...]
Grizzly on Elk Carcass
When Doug and I saw our first grizzlies in Yellowstone’s Hayden Valley, there were only 200 in all of this region. Nowadays more than 600 grizzly bears roam this area. My advice…Be Beary Careful!!
Wild Life
Wolves killed two calves just 5 miles south of Livingston last week. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has warned us about bears (black and grizzly) coming into town to feed on fruit and garbage. Our local newspaper has shown photos of mountain lions, bears, moose, deer and antelope around town of late. This really is [...]
Grizzly Bears
There are three times as many grizzly bears in our area as there were back in the 1970′s when Doug and I saw our first!! And that means more grizzly and human interactions. So when you are in bear country, carry a canister of bear spray for both your protection and the protection of the [...]
Fall
Fall is here, the sky is clear, the plains are filled with antelope and deer and grizzly bears are everywhere, the wolves of freedom sing in the land where the buffalo roam!!
Pronghorns
Grandma Dora spotted 18 pronghorn antelope on her ridge this morning. Redi and I saw them first!! The picture shows just a few of the pronghorns. Pronghorns are not really antelope nor are they members of the deer family. They are the sole surviving member of an ancient family dating back 20 million years. It [...]
Pronghorn Antelope
Yesterday our pronghorn antelopes returned on “Grandma Dora’s Ridge” (see picture). Our record wet August resulted in wonderful new fall grass for all of our grazing friends. Monday, we will meet with ambassadors from China, Japan, Chile, etc., and tell them about GrandpaGrizzly.com. Wish us luck!!
Who Could Ask for Anything More
Soda Butte, Bison and Snow on the Mountain – Who Could Ask for Anything More?? We went to Silver Gate, MT yesterday for a going away to college party for our friends daughter. She is leaving soon for Western Oregon University. Both girls will be away at college – Pennsylvania and Oregon. We will miss [...]
